Here at Ryther, we are so grateful for all of our wonderful volunteer groups. The kids in the cottages have done everything from foreign languages, to sports, to building bottle rockets, and everything in between. Thanks to the dedication of our wonderful volunteers, the last six months have been full of fun!
The spring started off great, with The Junior League of Seattle visiting Ryther and hosting an art class, foreign language game day, and cooking demonstration during the first three months of 2019. We’d like to give a special thanks to BlackRock for creating a photo booth with mask decorating on our campus during spring break and to UPS for coming to our campus to wash vans and paint a shed, getting us ready for summer!
This summer was full of wonderful volunteer groups. Several of these groups completed maintenance projects that would have taken Ryther’s Facilities team weeks to complete. The Beta Theta Pi Fraternity from the University of Washinton, as well as groups from MoxiWorks, Tableau, Starbucks, and Milliman all put in hard work to make sure Ryther’s campus looks good and is ready to serve our clients. Some of these projects included painting, building outdoor therapy stations, including a “Touch, Smell, Taste Garden”, the “Sensory Pathway” and the “Outdoor Music Experience”, and plenty of weeding! We are so grateful to these dedicated volunteers who took time out of their day to help the staff at Ryther.
We would also like to give the Beyond Project a very special shoutout! These volunteer hairdressers come to campus every month to give haircuts to all the children in the cottages. It is one of the kids’ favorite time of the month, and everyone always leaves with fresh new styles and big smiles!
